Context
With energy efficiency and sustainability becoming paramount for industrial buildings, the demand for innovative, adaptive solutions is greater than ever. This project was essential for advancing Solskin’s climate-adaptive facade technology toward system development and industrial readiness. Conducted at ETH Zurich’s Zero Carbon Building Systems (ZCBS) Lab, the initiative tested Solskin's adaptive PV technology in real-world conditions, focusing on performance metrics such as wind resistance, solar generation efficiency, module positioning, and shading control. Besides technical performance, the testing includes user comfort and experience The data collected validated earlier lab simulations and laid a solid groundwork for large-scale implementation.
Solskin Implementation
At ETH Zurich, Solskin’s test facade underwent a comprehensive evaluation to ensure optimal performance across varying environmental conditions. Key achievements included confirming the system's effectiveness in managing solar heat gain and enhancing overall energy efficiency. The facade's adaptability to changes in wind and sunlight was rigorously assessed, demonstrating its suitability for industrial-scale applications and informing critical technical improvements.
