Project Overview

Imagine a building where tradition meets innovation—this is the vision behind the Wooden House refurbishment. Solskin’s climate-adaptive facade system seamlessly integrates with existing architecture, overcoming the limitations of standard PV solutions that struggle with varying facade sizes, geometries, and the integration of sustainable materials like wood. By incorporating Solskin, the building is transformed into a model of energy efficiency and sustainability while preserving and even enhancing its original wooden aesthetics. This initiative not only reduces energy consumption and operational costs but also sets a new benchmark for integrating photovoltaics with wooden facades. The project serves as an inspiration for future renovations and new constructions, proving that cutting-edge technology and natural materials can coexist in perfect harmony.

Context

Finding a photovoltaic facade system that integrates seamlessly with wooden structures remains a challenge. Most PV solutions on the market disrupt the original aesthetics, requiring costly modifications. Solskin overcomes this by offering a modular, adaptive facade technology that not only enables energy production but also enhances the building’s design. Unlike conventional solar panels, Solskin integrates harmoniously with the wooden facade, preserving its architectural integrity while maximizing sustainability.

Solskin Implementation

Solskin is to be integrated on the south-east facade with almost optimal orientation for both shading and energy production. The system is designed to dynamically adjust the orientation of the solar modules for maximum efficiency. In addition to generating green energy, Solskin’s intelligent shading functionality prevents overheating in summer, ensuring a comfortable interior. This seamless integration allows the building to retain its natural wooden aesthetics while benefiting from modern energy solutions.
