Today’s offices are under increasing pressure to prioritize energy efficiency, sustainability, and employee well-being—areas where traditional solar facades and shading systems often fall short. These systems typically require significant energy and HVAC resources to create a comfortable thermal and light environment, yet they struggle to maintain optimal conditions throughout the workday. This may result in excessive heat gain, poor lighting, glare and fluctuating temperatures, leading to among others to “sick buildings” and “sick building syndrome" of occupants associated with increased symptoms of anxiety and depression among employees which negatively impact employee productivity, motivation, and overall well-being.
In our time a shift to hybrid or remote work is clearly observable, while this reduces the overall demand for office spaces in many cities around the globe, the employees desire comfortable workspaces and value sustainability greatly. So for the companies which make the conscious decision to commit to high quality work places, smart technologies and sustainable design are what will keep the workforce and the company community wanting to work and thrive in the office.
Moreover, conventional facade and shading solutions often lack the necessary customization to ensure design authenticity and compatibility with the surrounding environment. Standard solutions fail to reflect the unique architectural identity of the office, leading to a disconnect between the building and its context.
Solskin Implementation
The Solskin Comfort advanced climate-adaptive facade system is seamlessly integrated into office designs, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Large double floor height Solskin Units are used for complete or partial coverage of the facade in selected areas. Housing both coworking and private office spaces this building design offers a comfortable and inspirational workplace for all. On the upper floors smaller private offices and meeting rooms provide a sense of privacy and familiarity more akin to one's own home, standing in contrast to the large open space offices on the lower floors but offering attractive rent space for SMEs with flexible room demands. However all areas benefit equally from Solskin Comfort which caters to the dedicated need of users in each of the individual rooms and office spaces.
